Chip and Joanna Gaines named their baby boy after a haircut
Chip and Joanna Gaines, French country style power couple and stars of your parents’ favorite H>V show Fixer Upper, welcomed a baby boy last weekend.
And they named him Crew.
As in the haircut.
Thematically it fits in with the rest of the Gaines children’s names: Duke, Drake, Ella and Emmie. So D’s for the boys and E’s for the girls. They’re all traditionally gender conforming, with the flamboyant two syllable names for the girls and monosyllabic ones for the boys.
Crew, however, begins with a “C.” Perhaps because his parents wanted to break from their gender naming tradition for their (presumably) last child. Or maybe they’re just really down for the name of every 90s TV bully.
Anyway, it’s super butch. Coming from two God-fearing Texans popular with mainstream America, it’s not as edgy as something like Sacha or Valentine.
The proud mother of five posted the following message on Instagram:
So Crew was an accident. That disproves my theory that he was a Bandaid baby to fix their marriage, which has been rumoured to be on the rocks. Or a great promotional tool for Joanna’s new cookbook. Like, can you imagine if Gwyneth Paltrow had given birth during her Goop era? Apple and Moses would have been pimped out in utero.
And if you're wondering how little baby Crew was conceived, Chip's got ya covered, y'all!
“You might recall a few months back.. the ever amazing, ever romantic @JOHNNYSWIM was in Waco. And they put on a little too romantic of a concert.. anyways, one thing led to another, & we are officially pregnant. And I could not be more EXCITED! #5 #7ThePerfectNumber.”
Can we please ban men from using the phrase "We're pregnant" forever?
Just in case Chip and Joanna have another oopsie, here are some baby boy name predictions:
