I don’t usually like using exclamation points in titles, but this is urgent. If you didn’t grow up watching the original Life-Size on the Disney Channel like my sister and I did, you will probably not realize the gravity of this news.
For the cultural swines who have no idea what I’m talking about, Life-Size was a made-for-TV movie starring Lindsay Lohan and Tyra Banks that came out in the year 2000. It’s about a young girl (Lohan) who uses a magic spell to bring her dead mom back to life, but accidentally makes her doll, Eve (Banks) human. Eve and the little girl strike up a friendship and there’s even a little bit of a love story between the ditzy doll and the schlumpy dad. It also features unforgettable lines like “I don’t want a doll. I want something with micro-chips.” It's a classic.
There is no word yet on whether Lohan will be returning to this critically acclaimed film, but Banks, who’s also executive producing, indicated that there’ll be a new little girl this time: “We have not talked about casting at all so I have no idea who is going to be the young person that will be the owner of Eve. We haven’t gotten to that.”
In another case of beautiful PR timing, Variety got the exclusive this morning, the same day America’s Next Top Model airs its last episode after 12 years. Banks said she likes to “leave before you’re kicked out”, but implied that the show will probably find a new home, probably like Hulu or something.
She recently left her new daytime talk show FABLife after only two months, probably because it was the lowest-rated daytime syndicated talk show this fall. Co-host, Chrissy Teigen will probably take over for her. That will certainly be a step up from her lifeguard duties on Lip Sync Battle.
Without further ado, here's Tyra singing "Be A Star" with the same unbridled enthusiasm I had at every middle school dance. Make sure to watch at least 2:25, for the most awkward dance ending of all time.
