Hilary Duff Playing Sharon Tate in Tacky Horror Movie
Hilary Duff is starring in a new slasher movie called The Haunting of Sharon Tate. She plays the titular actress who was eight-and-a-half months pregnant when she and her friends were tragically murdered by Charles Manson’s followers in her LA home in 1969 (her then husband Roman Polanski was in Europe at the time). In this version Duff talks in a goofy old-timey accent (not unlike Blake Lively in Age of Adaline) about visions of her imminent death but in typical horror movie

Lesbi-honest trailer: Emma Stone as Billie Jean King in Battle of the Sexes
A quick note before we get to the trailer: I just turned in my last assignment before working on my dissertation! I hate not being as active on the blog this year, but I’m so excited to be nearly finished with my Masters. Last month, the trailer for Battle of the Sexes starring Emma Stone and Steve Carell dropped. Normally, I could care less about anything to do with sports, but this one had me beating my chest with excitement. It chronicles the 1973 tennis match between Bill

Rough Night is The Hangover on steroids
First off, Happy International Women’s Day! Sorry I didn’t have time to protest, but I was like, totally with you guys in spirit. I even wrote a touching Tweet about it. After the dumpster fire that was 2016, I’ve been looking for solace in the little things. Like the fact that things are finally looking up for female-driven movies. Sony just dropped the trailer for Rough Night, starring Scarlett Johansson, Jillian Bell, Kate McKinnon, Zoë Kravitz and Ilana Glazer. In other w

True love is real: Trailer drops for Rob Kardashian and Blac Chyna’s reality show
I have no idea who Blac Chyna is, but I think I love her already. Just a few beats into the trailer for Rob & Chyna, you can hear her shrieking, “ARE YOU STILL TEXTING BITCHES” with a shot of her chucking a bouquet of flowers into a pool. This is followed by a shot of her gushing about parenthood with Rob Kardashian. Chyna totally wears the pants, right? She’s not a person, she’s a goddamn HURRICANE. I’ve known guys like Rob Jr. Shy and insecure, they don’t date, they’re CHOS

Pixar generously includes lesbian couple as extras in Finding Dory
Pixar has debuted a new trailer for Finding Dory featuring a lesbian couple. While the Internet is celebrating because this is probably the first time in history a same-sex couple has appeared in a Disney Pixar movie, they don’t seem to be major characters. Or fish. Watch the video below, and you’ll see them at the 1:06 mark. When I first read the headlines this morning, I was expecting Dory to find a girlfriend, which would lead to the charming spinoff movie 50 First Fish. W

Bad Moms trailer looks just bad
While everyone else is getting their panties in a twist over the Ghostbusters remake, I’m over here wondering how Bad Moms even got made. I’ll admit it’s a good premise. I like that they’re poking fun at political correctness and moms’ fear of GMOs. But the casting makes no sense. Like on what planet can Mila Kunis pass as a mom to two 12-year-olds?! She looks more like the babysitter. Or maybe by Hollywood’s standards this is what a woman is expected to look like after havin

Michelle and Barack Obama’s first date is now a rom-com
When couples tell you their first date was adorable and epic, very few are actually right. An exception to the rule is my grandparents, who met at a dance in the Philippines 60 years ago. And now Michelle and Barack Obama, whose love will now forever be immortalized in the form of a cheesy rom-com called Southside With You. The film follows the future First Lady and POTUS on their first date in Chicago in 1989, as lawyer, Barack (Parker Sawyers) attempts to charm his sassy co

Women don’t speak in trailer for Woody Allen’s Café Society
Actually, I take that back. I heard a few women speak, but only when it pertained to sex or servicing Jesse Eisenberg’s character. The rest of it is mostly men talking on phones about important business stuff. From what I can gather, Café Society is a ‘30s love story about a young man (Eisenberg) who tries to make it as an agent in Hollywood. There, he falls in love with his boss’ (Steve Carell) girl, played by Kristen Stewart. Years later, he’s given up on Hollywood and move

The Girl On the Train teaser looks way better than the book
The Girl On the Train teaser looks CRAZY GOOD. It’s seems like a major upgrade from the novel, which was a completely overrated bestseller. Like I said, it’s a page-turner, but not my favorite. The cinematography looks gorgeous, too. And I love the slowed down version of Kanye West’s “Heartless,” which I’m hoping will be on the soundtrack. I know some fans of the book think Emily Blunt should’ve gained weight and looked a little sloppier for the film, but I’m guessing it was

Equals looks like a twee 1984
Not that that’s a bad thing. Months after giving us a teaser in the form of an 80s music video, we now have the full trailer for Equals, starring Kristen Stewart and Nicholas Hoult. Watch it here, then meet me after the jump. It’s a schmaltzy concept, but it sounds cute. Like if you took all the politics out of 1984, and added just a dash of A Clockwork Orange, this would be it. Or you know, Equilibrium without the martial arts. But God, the cinematography looks gorgeous. Am
